USA

International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF)

The IAFF fights for presumptive disability laws that acknowledge the connection between firefighting and certain health conditions. The IAFF presumptive disability coverage database provides up-to-date information by state and province.

The First Responder Center for Excellence (FRCE)

The FRCE is committed to promoting quality educational awareness and research to reduce physical, emotional, and psychological health and wellness issues for first responders.

Fire Family Foundation

Fire Family Foundation provides support and financial assistance to firefighters and their families in times of need.

CancerCare Co-Payment Assistance Foundation

Provides financial assistance for cancer-related co-payments, insurance premiums, and other out-of-pocket expenses for eligible patients, including firefighters.

FDNY Foundation

Supports various FDNY programs, including those that provide financial assistance and resources for firefighters facing health issues, including cancer.

FDNY World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program

Offers medical monitoring and treatment for FDNY firefighters who were involved in the rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site, with a focus on cancers and other related conditions.

FDNY Family Assistance Unit (FAU)

Provides support and resources for the families of FDNY firefighters, including those dealing with cancer. This includes assistance with navigating healthcare systems and accessing benefits.

FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation

The central focus is assisting the families of firefighters in their times of greatest need, in transporting firefighters, family members and department personnel to and from medical institutions both for care and family support.

Uniformed Firefighters Association (UFA) of Greater New York

Advocates for the health and welfare of FDNY firefighters, providing support, resources, and financial assistance programs for members dealing with cancer and other serious health conditions.

NY Firefighter Heart and Lung Institute

A medical center designed by firefighters for firefighters that provides medical care specializing in but not limited to cardiac and pulmonary testing, as well as, providing educational seminars focused on FF safety throughout the USA and Canada.

FealGood Foundation

The primary mission is to assist all emergency personnel within the United States who have been injured in the course of their duties or within their everyday lives.

Fired Up For a Cure FDNY

Prevent, educate and advocate the importance of annual medical exams and screenings. Empower our cancer survivors to embrace life beyond having a cancer diagnosis.

Everyone Goes Home

Provides free training, resources, and programs to champion and implement the 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives. The goal of the Everyone Goes Home Program is to reduce the number of preventable firefighter line-of-duty deaths and injuries.

National Fallen Fire Fighters Foundation

Our mission is to honor America’s fallen fire heroes; support their families, colleagues, and organizations; and work to reduce preventable firefighter death and injury.

Triple F Foundation

The mission of the Triple F Foundation is to support public servants during difficult times through peer support and with financial assistance. First responders serving on the front lines are exposed to hazards, including cancer causing carcinogens; injury including burns and increased risk of long term illness, including post-traumatic stress.

We save lives by teaching people how to recognize the early warning signs of cancer and activate healthcare.

Texas Fire Fighters Home

The mission of the Texas Fire Fighters Home (TFFH) is to provide short-term housing at little or no cost to firefighters and other first-responders while they are undergoing treatment at The Texas Medical Center (TMC).

Cancer Support Community, North Texas

Through support groups, individual counseling, healthy lifestyle activities, social events, resources, and children’s programs, Cancer Support community provids a community to help individuals navigate the cancer experience.

Montgomery County First Responders Foundation

Provides financial assistance in instances of line of duty death or injury, property loss due to natural disaster or fire, assistance for significant medical expenses due to illness or injury, and any other financial hardships affecting all First Responders serving The Woodlands and throughout Montgomery County.

Conroe Professional Firefighters Foundation

Provides support and relief to Conroe Firefighters and their families.

Texas State Emergency Relief Fund

Offering some emergency relief via financial support (up to a max of $1000) to fire fighters and their families in certain hardship situations, including medical needs.

Baptist MD Anderson First Responders Program

Offering the Baptist MD Anderson First Responders Program where first responders receive expedited, state-of-the-art care across their system and in the cancer center so that individuals can focus on the demands of their job. The program engages a multidisciplinary team who will support individuals and their families throughout the cancer journey.

University of Texas, McGovern Medical School, Trauma and Resilience Center

Trained to offer psycholocial and mental health support and treatment at reduced or no cost, directly into patients homes via telemedicine to first responders (police, fire, EMS), their spouses and children.

Richland Oaks

Accessible, comprehensive mental health care offering a full spectrum of quality and accessible psychological services to the community, regardless of an individual’s ability to pay.  Services offered in 8 different languages.

National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI), North Texas

Offering free services both virtually and in person. Programs vary based on age and need and include support groups, seminars, and peer-to-peer options.

Houston Firefighter Support Network

The mission of the Firefighter Support Network (FSN) is to provide confidential non punitive assistance to our Firefighters, their families, Retirees, and our civilian members in their time of need. Our goal is to provide the highest degree of Spiritual, Mental, Emotional, and Physical support.

Founded in 1902, the Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association is the leading voice for the nearly 4,000 men and women who provide fire and emergency medical services in Houston.

Canada

Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC)

The CAFC has a program focused on firefighter cancer knowledge, behaviours, attitudes and barriers. By partaking in this research, firefighters will explore of 20 cancer prevention practices.

Cancer Care Ontario is part of Ontario Health, an agency created by the Government of Ontario with a mandate to connect and coordinate our province’s health care system to help ensure that Ontarians receive the best possible care.

Occupational Cancer Research Centre
